Özet

Most of the motile Aeromonas species cause infections with hemorrhagic septicemia in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum, 1792).
This study was performed for the diagnosis of disease problems occurred in different rainbow trout farms in the Mediterranean region of Turkey
in July 2009.In this study, a total of 17 moribund fry and adult fish samples between 2-130 g were examined using bacteriological and histopathological
techniques. The enzyme profile and antimicrobial susceptibility of the causative agent were also investigated. Hemorrhages and ulcers on the body
surface, fin rot, distention of the abdomen, liquefaction of the internal organs and especially the kidney and exophthalmia and accumulation of a
yellowish fluid in the intestines in some samples were observed as the clinical symptoms of the disease. Aeromonas schubertii was recovered as the
causative agent of the disease from the kidneys of the moribund fish samples. Chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacine and flumequine were determined to
be the most effective antibiotics against this bacterium. With this study, A. schubertii was recovered and identified from the rainbow trout in Turkey
for the first time.
