In this study, effects of triacontanol (TRIA) pretreatment on mitotic index and chromosome abnormalities in root tips of barley seeds (Hordeum vulgare
L. cv. “Bülbül 89”) germinated under salinity conditions were investigated. It was observed that salt signifi cantly decreased mitotic index and caused
chromosome abnormalities, in parallel with concentration rise. Although TRIA pretreatment were unsuccessful to alleviate the preventive effect of salt stress
on the mitotic index, it reduced chromosome abnormalities on a large scale. The data obtained were evaluated statistically
