Carpinus betulus L. Yapraklarının Bazı Ekofizyolojik Özellikleri ile Meşcere Işık Geçirgenliği ve Kanopi Boşluğu Arasındaki İlişkiler

Özet

The influence of climatic, particularly the temperature factors on the seasonal dynamics within some physiological characteristics of
deciduous forest trees such as leaf size, mass and moisture has intensively been introduced into the recent research scope. The international
studies which try to investigate the impact of global and local warming on the tree leaf physiology and consequently on the landscape and
forest ecology have accelerated. Therefore, the physiological characteristics of Carpinus betulus L. leaves i.e. size, mass and moisture
together with the stand light transmission and canopy gaps were observed during the 50 days period (between April 16th and June 5th of 2012)
in the Balamba urban forest patch of Bartın province. Correlations among the dynamics of these leaf physiology and canopy parameters and
with the dynamics of climate parameters i.e. air-soil temperature and air humidity were examined. First of all, there was significant negative
high correlation (r≤-0.97, P<0.01) between the leaf size and light transmission-canopy gaps. Similar significant correlation of wet mass of
leaves with their sizes was positive whereas with light transmission-canopy gaps was negative. However, the correlations between the air
temperature and all of the leaf physiology and canopy parameters except the dry mass were relatively not high and accordingly insignificant.
On the other hand, there were significant high correlations of soil temperature particularly at the 20 and 50 cm depths with all the leaf
physiology parameters (positive) including also the leaf moisture (negative) and with the canopy parameters (negative). In order to achieve
sustainable landscape and forest ecology, all these results indicated that the climate factors in particular the soil moisture was a parameter
that should be stressed around the potential climate change concept.
