Özet

In order to determine the feeding and development characteristics that might be useful to improve the control methods of Euproctis chrysorrhoea
L. (brown-tail moth) larvae which are agricultural and forestry pests, this feeding experiment was carried out by using six different plant species
leaves. The results of feeding experiments were interpreted according to the water, protein, total phenolics, and gallotannin, proanthocyanidin and
fiber contents of the plant leaves used in feeding the larvae E. chrysorrhoea larvae consumed more the plant species with high water content but
fed on less the plant species with low water content. E. chrysorrhoea larvae consumed the presented plant leaf samples according to their protein
contents. It was determined that by increasing the amount of proteins in the plant samples presented to larvae, both the consumed food and the
apparent digestibility (AD) of the food by the larvae were increased. In addition, It was shown that the total phenolics, gallotannin, proanthocyanidin
and fiber contents of the plant leaves consumed by the larvae were affected adversely on the apparent digestibility (AD), the efficiency of digested
food to biomass (ECD) and the efficiency of ingested food to biomass (ECI).
