In this study, some medicinal plant material were collected from Antakya district in Hatay region. It is known that Amanos Mountains are
contained a lot of plant species. Some plants are accumulated dangerous levels of heavy metals. In addition, some metals are known to be accumulated
in humans and other organisms by food chain. For this purpose, Hypericum perforatum L., Helichrysum stoechas L. Moench, Helichrysum
sanguineum L. Kostel, Hypericum triquetrifolium, Sideritis perfoliata L., Salvia virgata Jacq., Althaea officinalis L., Stachis petrokosmos Rech.,
Thymbra spicata L., Thymus cilicicus L., Salvia virgata, Anthemis arvensis L., Teucrium polium L., Myrtus communis L., Gundelia tournefortii L.,
Thymus eigii, Capparis spinosa L., Lavandula stoechas L., Arbutus andrachne L., Oryganum syriacum L. were collected from Antakya district.
Chromium (Cr), cupper (Cu) and lead (Pb) analysis were carried out by using ICP-AES. Lavender flower (Lavandula stoechas L.) contained the
highest concentration of the chromium (18,85±0,84 ppm/g dry weight). The highest lead (Pb) accumulation was determined in Salvia virgata L.
(2,456±0,72 ppm/g dry weight).
