Parallel to the rapid increase in world’s population, air pollution is becoming the leading pollution type all over the world. In developed and
developing countries air pollution is a more significant problem, which has direct and indirect negative effects on the living environment. The
topographic structure and the geological position of Erzurum cause the formation of a dry climate around the region. With the lowest average annual
temperature in Turkey, Erzurum has long and harsh winters, while its summers are short and dry. The winter period in the city is usually longer than
six months. Temperatures start falling by October and rise again by April. The average annual rainfall of 460.5 mm in the province of Basra and
the cyclone is usually under the influence of the Siberian anticyclone. The mean for the days with snowfall is 29.3. Snowfall starts by October and
continues until May. Erzurum has a significant air pollution problem. The intensity of the problem, which is mostly caused by the heating activities
during winter, increases due to the topographic structure of the city, unplanned urbanization and meteorological factors. This study investigates
the effects of use of natural gas on air pollution, by looking at the changes in the air quality parameters during the transition period from fossil fuel
consumption to natural gas consumption. Natural gas is a clean fuel, and provide an effective role in the city’s air pollution, cut their mind after the
free practice of natural gas in the province of Erzurum, a gradual decrease in air pollution were to occur . Given values for SO2 and PM reductions
than in previous years have been identified In this study, the main source of data, “Turkey Statistical Institute” used in the data
