In this study which was performed in order to determine the seasonal variations of water quality parameters and algal flora of Sazlıdere Stream,
sampling were made monthly from February to December 2007 from 4 different stations along the stream. A total of 53 taxa from Bacillariophyta
(33), Chlorophyta (10), Euglenophyta (7) and Cyanophyta (3) were found to represent the algal flora of the stream. Among these, Bacillariophyta
was recorded as a dominant group throughout the year. Station II was the richest station during the whole study in terms of species diversity and
composition. The maximum abundance of phytoplanktonic community within this station was 86696 organism/L, while it was 4648 cell/cm2 for
the epipelic community. The water quality of the stream was found much close to the 3rd and 4th quality levels. When A Bray-Curtis Similarity Index
was applied for the sampling stations based on the present phytoplanktonic organisms and on their species richness, stations I and II appeared to be
most similar, whereas stations II and IV were most similar in terms of epipelic algae.
