The research area, Ilgaz Mountain (Yenice-Doruk) forests, is in the Euxine sector of Europeran-Cyberian floristic region. Distribution of 170
plant species and subspecies level taxa that constitue the regional flora is 20.00% for European-Cyberian, 4.71% for Iranian-Turan, 4.71% for
Mediterranean, 4.11% for Euxine and 56.47% for multiple regional species. Endemic species number is 18 and the endemism ratio is determined
as 10.59 percent. It is determined that 11.76% of the plant species were Leguminosae, 11.18% were Labiate, 9.41% were Compositae, 7.65%
were Rosaceae, 5.29% were Gramineae and 54.71% were other families. With regard to the insect fauna of the region; %21.13 of the species were
Noctuidae, 16.90% were Arctiidae, 14.08% were Geometridae, 14.08% were Notodontidae, 12.68% were Sphingidae, 8.45% were Lasiocampidae
and 12.68% were other lepidopteran species (Lemoniidae, Lymantriidae, Tortricidae, Ethemiidae, Pyralidae and Sesiidae) of total 71 lepidopteran
species. While 38 of the determined species were determined to be in the forest fauna, 33 species were determined as forest pest species.
It was determined that there was no insect damage was observed in the research area whereas there were many plant and insect species. This
shows the importance of the biological diversity.
